ATVA 2005 will be held in Taipei, Taiwan, on the campus of National Taiwan University.
The Country:
Taiwan is the beautiful island with an area about the size of Switzerland (and as mountainous) lying two hundred kilometers off the south east coast of the mainland Asian between Japan and the Philippines. Though with a dense population of over 23 million, its standard of living and level of education are comparable to those of most developed countries. Visitors to Taiwan find them easily impressed by its hospitable people and great food. Over the past decades, Taiwan has earned its fame for its innovation and manufacturing capability in the Information Technology industry. Near 70% of the world's laptop (notebook) computers produced last year, to name just one of the many IT products, either bore a Taiwan brand name or were made by Taiwanese manufacturers. In the World Economy Forum's Global Competitiveness Report 2004¡V2005, Taiwan is respectfully ranked No. 4 world wide (Finland: 1; U.S.: 2; Sweden: 3; Taiwan: 4; Singapore: 7; Japan: 9; Hong Kong: 21).

The City:
Taipei¡Xthe capital city of Taiwan¡Xis situated near the northern tip of the island with a population of over 2.6 million. It has long been the political, commercial, and cultural center of Taiwan and is the most modernized city of the country. Taipei is easily accessible by major airlines through the CKS International Airport about 50-minute bus ride away from the city center.

The University:
National Taiwan University¡Xone of the most prestigious universities of Taiwan¡Xis located in the mid south of the Taipei city. It was established in 1928 and currently has about 16,500 undergraduate and 13,000 graduate students. ATVA 2005 will be hosted in the newly completed Barry Lam Hall of Department of Electrical Engineering.
